hello again!
Todays review is about a book I read a few months ago, and I just realized I never wrote a review for it, though I really wanted to.
Me Before you is about a young woman named Louisa aka ‘Lou’ Clark. she has been hired to be a caretaker, despite having no previous experience, for Will Traynor, a man who was an executive who lived a thrill-seeking, exciting life until an accident left him depressed and a quadriplegic. when she learns the he has a limited amount of time to live, she sets about to make his last few months so good that it convinces him that life is still worth living.
I loved this book. it brought out so many emotions, some that sort of hit me on a bit of a personal level. it was very well written, and had some great quotes such as ““You only get one life. It’s actually your duty to live it as fully as possible.”
thats just one example, but if you read the book, you’ll see what I mean. the book also focuses not only on Will and Louisa’s relationship, but it deals with the topic of assisted suicide. Will wants to die, and pushes his parents to let him die. they stike a bargain of 6 months and if he still is set to do it, they will help him. when Louisa learns about this thats when she tries hard to get him to change his mind. the topic of assisted suicide is a sticky one, but I think Moyes handled it well
if I had one complaint about this book, it would be of how Louisa’s family treated her. its minor, but it really bugged me; they made fun of her alot, and often made her out to be lazy and all sorts of negative things. and she never said anything, she just took it. in the end, that changed but it still bothered me.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. its one that has become quite memorable.
